Roma Caput Mundi: a model of universal citizenship

Open meeting and workshop with the academy's artists

Poster for the meetings: from the 7 Kings of Rome to universal citizenship, 28 September and 26 October 2026. Two meetings open to the city, between history, participation and the performing arts.

The first meeting of the "I 7 Re di Roma" project: the first four kings and the welcoming of vulnerable people, followed by a singing, dance and acting workshop.

The meeting, led by lawyer Claudia Barcellona, told the story of the first four kings of Rome and of how the newborn city protected vulnerable people and regulated coexistence between different people. From Romulus's asylum to today's debate on welcoming others.

Who leads the meeting

Claudia Barcellona is a lawyer specialising in arts and entertainment law, gender equality and the protection of vulnerable people. She works with public and private institutions in these fields and has been heard several times by the Culture Committee of both the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate, as well as by the Ministry of Culture, including in connection with the work on the Performing Arts Code and the preparatory work for the PNRR TOCC measures. She is a consultant to major artistic production companies across Italy and to artists. As a teacher she gives masterclasses on the subjects she specialises in throughout Italy, including at academies, music conservatoires, festivals and more. She has spoken at over a hundred events, some of them dedicated to the professional development of artists with disabilities, and is the author of several academic publications. She has received many national and international awards for artistic and professional merit. She is a co-founder of Pythika.

This was followed by the singing, dance and acting workshop, led one to one by ten artists from the academy, with and without disabilities.

The project, promoted by Roma Capitale, is a winner of the Public Notice for initiatives of interest to the Capitoline Administration, in collaboration with Zètema Progetto Cultura.
