I 7 Re di Roma
The premiere at Teatro Ghione
The L'Arte nel Cuore company stages I sette re di Roma by Luigi Magni, with music by Nicola Piovani. Free admission.
I sette re di Roma is a musical comedy. It tells the story of the first 244 years of Rome with irony: from the founding of the city to the expulsion of Tarquin the Proud.
On stage are the seven kings: Romulus, Numa Pompilius, Tullus Hostilius, Ancus Marcius, Tarquin the Elder, Servius Tullius and Tarquin the Proud. Around them, wars, love affairs, intrigues and power games, between legend and history.
Director's notes
L'Arte nel Cuore's shows start from differences. What is on stage is not disability: it is people, with their bodies, their voices and their own way of being with others.
The Rome of this show is imaginary and playful, built by the actors themselves with a few props that keep changing. The company becomes in turn the people, the army, the senate and the family. Through the story of the seven kings we also tell the story of today's Rome: a community of different people building something together.
Theatre thus becomes the place where everyone can have a role, a voice and a space.
